Arnott’s Leak Teases Gluten Free Cookies & Cream Release
Are cookies & cream the next gluten free Arnott’s offering arriving for 2025?
Hey Gluten Free Fam,
We have some more bite-sized news coming your way.
A recent leak online has teased an upcoming announcement from Australian biscuit’s giant Arnott’s. For those of us who love a treat, an image has circulated with a brand new gluten free edition of Cookies & Cream.
Arnott’s Gluten Free Cookies & Cream Makes Waves Online
If this release does come to fruition for 2025, it clearly indicates that the company is responding to a gap in the market for gluten free Oreos. Gluten Free Oreos are sadly not available for gluten free consumers in Australia due to the oat flour ingredient. Others in the US are able to enjoy a gluten free option for their Oreo packets.
We covered the oats subject in-depth with Associate Professor and Gastroenterologist Jason Tye-Din in 2024, examining the controversial relationship between the oats ingredient and coeliac consumers. That discrepancy between how Australia and New Zealand label oats compared to the rest of the Western world is something of a contentious topic.
Oreo’s lack of presence here is a big example of why the oats issue matters. Arnott’s appear to be taking advantage, using the market opening as a chance to roll out a brand new product that customers may gravitate towards.
Gluten Free Arnott’s Tease Gains Online Traction
This potential announcement will come as no surprise to those of us following Arnott’s recent gluten free expansion, as they invest further in their manufacturing and resources to deliver more biscuits void of any gluten.
The apparent leak comes courtesy of Melbourne foodie @nectoriouspapi via Instagram, while Kati Keksi has shared the post for her followers to snack on.
If the image is the real deal, the packaging is eye-catching, and people online have been responding in kind. To put this into perspective, Oreos sell approximately 60 billion cookies each year across 100 countries. Having a cookies and cream biscuit gets serious traction in retail, so it makes sense for an Australian brand to cash in.
Assessing Price & Waiting on Official Arnott’s News
We can never have enough choice when it comes to new biscuit releases in the gluten free category. Of course, we have to wait until the brand makes it official. We will also keep a close eye on the price point, seeing how much it will be in comparison to their gluten-containing equivalent.
With such a clamour for flavour and choice, it’s any wonder that this type of information is leaked online before the company can control the messaging. Is it deliberate to test the response? At this stage, it’s anyone’s guess.
